Kid Francescoli

French Electro-pop Quartet

Mathieu Hocine, a soccer enthusiast and supporter of Olympique de Marseille, adopted the stage name Kid Francescoli as a tribute to Enzo Francescoli, a legendary Uruguayan player known as "the Prince" for his elegant playing style.

"Kid Francescoli is as much a music group as it is a musical extension of Mathieu Hocine."

The band started performing live as a French electro-pop quartet, with Mathieu Hocine at the helm and Laetitia Abello on vocals.

Kid Francescoli released their debut album, self-titled, in 2006. They then performed regularly across Southern France, from Bordeaux to Nice, and notably in Marseille at the Poste à Galène and Cabaret aléatoire

The band first tasted success in 2013 with their third album, "With Julia", which was notably marked by the title track "Blow Up" and its associated short-film music video. Their fourth album, "Play Me Again", released in 2017, further cemented their success, leading to an international tour lasting nearly two years. One of the standout tracks from this album, "Moon (and It Went Like...)", garnered over 75 million views on YouTube and broke records worldwide on TikTok.

For their fifth album, "Lovers", released on January 31, 2020, Mathieu Hocine collaborated with four new female vocalists. An international tour quickly followed the release, but it was abruptly halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A year later, the tour restarted, featuring a sold-out performance at the Olympia on June 17, 2021, and multiple dates across the Americas. A sixth album is slated for release in September 2023.
