About Sona
Esona Tyolo, known professionally as SONA, is a South African DJ and producer whose work has skyrocketed in his first year on the decks. It's no surprise, of course, since he learned the ropes from his father, one of the best examples of Afrohouse in the planet: Black Coffee.
Less than a year after fully committing to music, he co-wrote and produced “Texts Go Green” on Drake’s album "Honestly, Nevermind", which broke Apple Music’s worldwide first-day streaming record and became the platform’s biggest dance release.
SONA first drew international notice accompanying his father to the 63rd Grammy Awards, then performing an acclaimed back-to-back set with him at Boombox Room in Las Vegas. His debut appearances at La Mesa in Los Angeles and GOSPEL in New York, along with festival and club dates across South Africa and the African continent, have marked him as one of the fastest-rising talents in electronic music.
