Muan

Muan AKA Camilo Álvarez, is a Mexican DJ, producer, and record collector based in Playa del Carmen. Born in Mexico City and raised in Cancún, he developed an early passion for music shaped by classical influences from his parents and '90s hip-hop. His introduction to house music came at 16 via Playa del Carmen’s underground club scene, which leading him to buy his first turntables and start DJing alongside Robbie Akbal.

Muan moved to London to study Sound Engineering and Recording Arts at SAE Institute, where he deepened his connection to vinyl culture and played at venues such as The Egg and The End, with performances in Spain, Sweden, and Denmark. After seven years abroad, he returned to Mexico and began producing music with releases on labels like Get Physical, Akbal Music, Supernature, No. 19 Music, and Be Chosen.

With over a decade rooted in Playa del Carmen, Muan has held residencies at La Santanera, Nana Rooftop, and played at major festivals including BPM and Zamna. His sets mix house, techno, and electronica, but is his work as producer that really makes him a key figure in the Riviera Maya’s electronic scene and a consistent representative of Mexican talent on the international stage.
