About Hernán Cattaneo

Hernán Cattáneo (born on March 4, 1965, Caballito, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine DJ, producer, and label owner, internationally recognized as one of the most influential figures in progressive house. Active since the mid-1980s, he began inspired by Depeche Mode, New Order, and Inner City, debuting at private parties and radio shows before establishing his first residency at Clubland (Pachá Buenos Aires) in 1998: a pivotal space for Argentina’s dance scene. His career took him to Cream Liverpool and Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, PachaFabric, and festivals such as Coachella, Burning Man, Exit, Creamfields, Monegros, Dance Valley, and Electric Daisy Carnival.

He became part of Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto roster, contributing productions and mix compilations, before joining Renaissance, where he released acclaimed series such as The Masters Series (2004–2009) and Sequential (2006–2007). He has also collaborated with labels like Bedrock, Hacienda Records, Ministry of Sound, and Balance Music.

In 2009 he founded Sudbeat Music, today a reference label in melodic and progressive electronic music, releasing works by Guy J, Nick Warren, Henry Saiz, Danny Howells, Eelke Kleijn, Dave Seaman, and many more. His productions and remixes, often alongside Soundexile, are staples of the global progressive scene.

In 2018 he performed four sold-out symphonic concerts at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires as part of Festival Únicos. In 2019–2020 he created Sunsetstrip at the Campo Argentino de Polo, a large-scale open-air format designed around extended 5 to 7 hour sets during the transition from day to night, drawing more than 12,000 attendees.

He continues to host his long-running radio and podcast series, broadcast globally and originally on Delta FM 90.3 (Buenos Aires). In 2025 he was awarded the Konex Diploma al Mérito for his contributions to Argentine and global electronic music, being known as both a “DJ’s DJ” and a people’s favorite.
