About Francis Mercier

Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Francis Mercier is building a movement. From his base in Miami he reflects on his homeland’s struggles, and everything he does comes from a place of deep commitment. As the co-founder of Deep Root Records and the visionary behind its Afro house-focused sub-label Deep Root Tribe

His work as a producer spans from New York City’s club circuit to international stages like Cova Santa in Ibiza, where he’s created space for Afro house to flourish: not as a trend, but as a cultural tapestry bringing ancestral roots to the modern day.
Tracks like his rework of Boukman Eksperyans’ “Imamou” or the globally celebrated “Sete” with BLOND:ISH and Amadou & Mariam are more than hits; they’re a bridge connecting continents, generations, and communities through music rooted in identity and collaboration.

Mercier’s journey from Ivy League economics student to label boss is at the center of his movement, hosting conversations on the genre’s future has taken place by meeting more people with the same outlook as him. He has released music on Sony, Columbia, Spinnin, Mad Decent, Higher Ground, Insomniac, Armada, and Realm Records with the support of Diplo, Major Lazer, BLOND:ISH, Magic System, Amadou & Mariam, Roland Clark, Black Uhuru, and other Grammy award-winning, internationally renowned acts.

He’s been supported by the likes of Black Coffee and Diplo, featured in Forbes, DJ Mag, and Billboard, and his tracks have echoed from Tomorrowland’s stages to UFC promo reels. But Francis Mercier never forgets where he comes from, and that’s exactly why his music resonates so deeply. It’s not just house. It’s heritage, evolution, and hope, played loud enough for the whole world to hear.
