About Dixon

Dixon (Steffen Berkhahn) is a German DJ, producer, and curator born in Anklam and based in Berlin. He started DJing in the early 1990s, holding residencies at Berlin clubs Tresor, WMF, Turbine, and Weekend Club, where his marathon sets shaped his deep house style. Under his own name and aliases such as Wahoo and A Critical Mass (with Henrik Schwarz & Âme), he has released edits and remixes for artists including Femi Kuti, The XX, Disclosure, Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem and Kelsey Lu. Between 2013 and 2016 he topped Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll, with Die Welt and Die Tageszeitung crediting him and his label for reshaping Berlin’s sound.

In 2005 Dixon co-founded Innervisions with Âme’s Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, evolving it from a Sonar-Kollektiv sublabel into one of house music’s most influential imprints.

His broader interests have led to multiple cross-disciplinary ventures. In 2017 he co-founded Together We Dance Alone with Ana Ofak, a club-wear label collaborating with Sacai and other designers, and scored runway shows for Givenchy and Louis Vuitton
In 2018, Rockstar Games introduced a 3D Dixon as a playable nightclub DJ in GTA Online: After Hours

In 201,9 he launched Transmoderna, first as a 20-week residency at Pacha Ibiza and then as a Berlin-Lisbon-based digital platform and artist collective merging electronic music, fashion and new media

Transmoderna integrates AI, VR and audio-reactive worldbuilding into both club and museum settings, developing installations like Terraforming CIR (Julia Stoschek Foundation, Centre Pompidou Metz) with collaborators including Sofia Crespo, Gabriel Massan and Trikk, and pioneering its own generative, music-synchronized AI visual app (premiered at Printworks London in 2021). Its projects range from LED “immersive pits” surrounding dancefloors to speculative VR voyages through post-anthropocene ecosystems.
